In modern societies we tend to lose our human capabilities to adapt and use our intuition when it comes to controlling our environment. We forget that we live as organic creatures in an organic environment. We no longer have to "deal with” environmental criteria - light, temperature, navigation etc - particularly in an urban context because we control them. And with increasing the use of mobile applications that encourage us not to think, we are altering our right brain abilities.
The objective of this project is not to reject our modern world but to shine a light on what it means to live together on earth, with both the environment and technology. Using technology as the instrument to remind us of our humanity.
Fuurin is the little Japanese bell that allows to hear the wind. This installation is about the feeling we get when we connect with nature, the emotion we have when wind blows through the leafs of a tree, or when wind chimes (fuurin) allows to hear the movement of the air around us. Like a synesthetic experience, this installation is meant to enhance our connection to nature.
Generative relaxing music and a reactive light setup will be controlled both by the wind surrounding the installation and the heart beat of the person relaxing in the pod.
